This is a table showing how I met the standards. I met these standards in ed tech 520. I created this blog, along with using Google docs, created a Google site, used Yodio, Google presentation, created a movie using Microsoft Movie maker, along with other web 2.0 products. I learned how to use these products along with how to emplement them into my teaching to improve the learning of my students. I look forward to using these products and skills in the classroom.

standards

This is a very powerful video, when I viewed this for the first time I was shocked. So now what can we as educators do to help the students we are teaching keep up with technology. There are technology standards in place.

(O)regon (E)ducation (T)echnology (S)tandards
(NETS for Students)
1- Creativity and Innovation
Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.

2- Communication and Collaboration
Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.

3- Research and Information Fluency
Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.

4- Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making
Students use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources.

5- Digital Citizenship
Students understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior.

6- Technology Operations and Concepts
Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. understand and use technology systems.

These are the standards that are in place that students must meet. Technology is the wave of the future, it is something that I am very passionate about helping students learn. If our students are expected to compete in the future we must teach these standards to them. The world is not changing and we can not sit and be idle and have the rest of the world pass us by. In the schools is were we are educating the future citizens so we must make technology a priority. To many people resist change in technology because they do not see the value or they are afraid of it. As educators we must be apart of the change and teach our students these standards.

Google sheets

This graph shows that the below average student's test scores are improving for the most part. A few students test scores are still decreasing, Google sheets allows me to put the raw data into a table and then into a table that makes the information much more usable. This table would help me to visualize which students will need extra help to improve their scores.

I have only used Excel for data entry. I never created anything on Excel I just added the data. This was the first time I used Google sheets and found it to be fairly easy. I am a fan of the Google products and plan on using them in my teaching career. I am excited to explore Google Sheets more and master the product.

Moviemaker

I created a video of my bulldog oscar using moviemaker. The program is fairly easy to use with a short learning curve. It can be a pain to get things just the way you want them, but I find it to be rather enjoyable creating videos. I think the functions of the software are pretty basic but for most people the software will be enough to create fun videos.

Mr.Price

Google sites is a easy way to create a web site. Because Google sites is a web 2.0 product there is no need to buy software or store anything on your local computer. This allows you the ability to update and build the site from any computer with internet assess. With Google sites their is no longer a need for HTML code or other programs like dream weaver.

Google site is a great option for teachers web pages. I plan on using my Google site as my class schedule, place to post assignments, blog, class info and reminders. The web site will be the goto point for students who miss class or are unaware of what expectations on an assignment were. The Google site will also act as a portfolio for my student teaching and practicum.

Overall Google sites is a easy way to create a website, it gives people with little to know web design skills the ability to create great looking and functional websites. I would encourage everyone to try using this free product in their class room. The program is very user friendly and has a quick learning curve.

Here is the link to the site that I have begin to create for my student teaching experience. I hope you enjoy it.

my favorite web 2.0 tools

Web 2.0 tools are web based soft ware that can be used to make computing much easier and more convenient. The benefit of web 2.0 soft ware is it is free and accessible form any computer in the world. Computer based soft ware can be very expensive and its only usable from the computer that its loaded on. With web 2.0 there are no compatibility problems like there are with computer based soft ware. Web 2.0 soft ware is also continually being updated and improved were computer based is not as easily updated or de bugged. I look forward to using these technology's to improve the communication between me and the students and there parents. I am happy to let Microsoft office leave my daily life and use a web based program that functions just as well with out all the compatibility problems.
